Meals on Wheels

The local Meals on Wheels service is provided by Blue Mountains Food Services who provide a range of services to engage with our community. Whether it’s nutritious meals delivered to your home, a friendly chat at one of our many community restaurants, or assistance with daily activities from one of our lovely volunteers, we’re all about helping you to remain independent and socially connected in your community.

​The Meals on Wheels service is much more than just a meal. It is about entering a friendly and caring community filled with dedicated staff and volunteers, and clients who share a like-minded interest in maintaining an independent and healthy lifestyle.

The Meals on Wheels service is only available to eligible people over the age of 65, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people over the age of 50, or people on an NDIS plan.

Eligible people are able to use the service using one or both modes of service delivery.


1. Frozen Food Delivery

Nutritious frozen meals are delivered weekly to your door by one of our friendly volunteers. We have a wide range of meals from various suppliers to choose from, so we’re positive you’ll find something to your taste.

Choose from more than 70 meals on our menu and have them delivered, frozen and ready to heat and eat when it suits you. Our menu includes asian, italian, gourmet, snack, mini meals and desserts. Your completed order can include a frozen meal, dessert and/or soup and drinks. Meals are delivered Tuesday to Friday between 8:30 am – 2:00pm depending on your area.

Main meal costs $5.75 with mini meals and desserts from $4.45 and $2.60 respectively.

2. Village Restaurants

Blue Mountains Food Services serve freshly cooked, low cost and delicious meals in a friendly and social setting in five different locations across the Blue Mountains. The Community Restaurants are conveniently located from Blaxland to Blackheath. The restaurants serve one course, two course and three course meals at the following cost:

One Course: $7.50
Two Course: $8.50
Three Course: $9.50

Transport can be arranged via Great Community Transport on 4759 2403.

Eligible people are welcome to attend the lunches at:

Blaxland: Tuesday 11:30 – 1:00 pm
Sharon Burridge Hall, Lower Mountains Community Centre, Hope Street, Blaxland.

Springwood: Tuesday & Thursday 11:30- 1:00 pm
The Hub, Macquarie Road, Springwood.

Lawson: Wednesday 11:30 – 1:00 pm
Grace Tooth Dining Room, Mid-Mountains Community Centre, New Street, Lawson.

Katoomba: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 11:30- 1:00 pm
Civic Centre, Katoomba Street, Katoomba.

Blackheath: Wednesday 11:30 – 1:00 pm
Community Centre, Bates Hall, GWH Blackheath



In addition to the Meals on Wheels frozen delivery service and the Community Restaurants Blue Mountains Food Services also provide Social Support and Personal Care to eligible people.

Social support

The Social Support Program is about creating connections between our friendly volunteers and people who require support in the community.

Whether it’s having a conversation over lunch, going to the library, or getting help with some shopping, our volunteers are here to support you in whatever way you need.

Personal Care

The Personal Care Program is about supporting frail, older people with support in their daily living activities of daily living. Whether that is helping with showering, bathing, grooming or simply helping you to get dressed we are there to help you look after yourself better.
